TV series on Saipan, Tinian and Rota

SAIPAN, CNMI (Saipan Tribune, Sept. 24, 2008) - A Russian media company that produces two shows called "Tourist Club" and "Bez Bashni" was recently on Saipan, Tinian and Rota filming for their channel. The media company, which is on its sixth year in business, has an estimated viewer ship of 300,000. The program is broadcast weekly and is tourism-driven. The estimated ad value of the programming is US$100,000.

"Tourist Club" is a program focusing on travel destinations around the world and showcasing history, culture and attractions. "Tourist Club" has done programs about Korea, Japan, Thailand, China, Italy, Spain, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and Egypt. The program was established in 2002 and received several awards, one of which is "Teffi - Region." The program airs once every two weeks.

"Tourist Club" will make three different programs: one program about Saipan, one about Rota, and one about Tinian. In addition, there will be three two-minute spots that will be aired on Far East News. Also, there will be 30 30-second spots and each which will be aired on International news.

"Bez Bashni" is a program specializing in extreme tourism around the world. "Bez Bashni" did programs about the underwater world in Egypt and Korea. Three times they filmed programs about different mountains that are more than 5,000 meters high and programs about different volcanoes, where each time went down the volcanoes, and more.

"Bez Bashni" was twice named the best sport program in Russia. In 2005, "Bez Bashni" represented Russia in an international sports program contest in Italy.

"The media exposure gained from this group will provide tremendous exposure for the CNMI as a premier tourist destination," said MVA managing director Perry Tenorio. "The Russian visitor is a strong contributor to the tourism economy in the CNMI and the additional media should only improve that." (MVA)
