80 desktops given to South Seas Evangelical Church

HONIARA, Solomon Islands (Solomon Star, Nov. 3, 2008) – Taiwan’s Taipei City Government last week donated desk-top personal computers (PC) to assist the Education department of the South Seas Evangelical Church (SSEC) and the Winds of Change Solomon Islands.

At a brief ceremony held at the Taipei City Hall, last Thursday eighty (80) refurbished desk-top computers were handed the Mayor of Taipei City, Mr. Hao Long-bin.

Solomon Islands Ambassador to Taiwan, Ambassador Beraki Jino received the computers on behalf of the two recipient organizations.

Ambassador Jino thanked the Taipei City Government, especially the City’s Council of Labour Affairs for organizing the kind donation.

"The donation demonstrates, yet again, the true compassion and commitment of the Taiwan people to assist and improve the lives of others that are in need. The computers no doubt will contribute to administrative efficiency and effective delivery of the programs of the two recipient organizations, " Jino said in his brief remarks when receiving the donation.

The computers will soon be shipped to Honiara through an arrangement with a Taiwan NGO, Change Initiative (Taiwan) - a sister organization of Winds of Change (Taiwan).
