Won-Jung Han presents papers to prime minister

HONIARA, Solomon Islands (Solomon Star, ) - Republic of Korea’s new ambassador to Solomon Islands, Won- Jung Han, yesterday presented his Letters of Credence to Governor General Sir Nathaniel Waena.

Mr. Han, who is based in Port Moresby, acknowledged the support Solomon Islands rendered to his country’s efforts to establish peaceful co-existence and co-prosperity on the Korean Peninsula.

He said Solomon Islands and Korea have steadily developed close ties of friendship and cooperation in various fields, including trade and economic development and fisheries cooperation since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1978.

Governor General Sir Nathanial Waena acknowledged the Republic of Korea’s assistance in the areas of education, fisheries, transportation and others.

He assured Han Solomon Islands will continue to work closely with Korea in areas of common interests.

These include fundamental principles and values of freedom, respect for human rights and dignity, rule of law, democracy and the shared vision for progress and prosperity for all people.
