By Bernadette H. Carreon

KOROR (Palau Horizon, Dec. 8, 2008)–President-elect Johnson Toribiong will appoint a woman to head one of the executive ministries.

Toribiong, in a press statement, said he will announce the members of his cabinet before he is sworn in on January 15.

"There definitely will be at least one woman member of my cabinet," he added.

Earlier, Toribiong announced that Vice President-elect Kerai Mariur will head the Ministry of Finance.

"However, as for the other ministries, I will make the announcement after I am sworn into office," he said. "I need skillful people with experience, education, personality, loyalty, and impartiality."

Toribiong said he will consult with his supporters and the transition committee before selecting the rest of his cabinet members.

According to the transition committee, its subcommittees have asked each executive ministry to submit their reports on or before December 15.

The deadline for the transition committee’s review and assessment of the executive branch’s operations is December 30.
