Offers 25 percent discounts to introduce Dash8

HONIARA, Solomon Islands (Solomon Star, Dec. 5, 2009) – Solomon Airlines has announced special discounts for the introduction of the Dash8 aircraft it is bringing into the country from New Zealand.

The aircraft will arrive here later this afternoon.

It will commence with a new domestic schedule beginning January 5 and will end on or around 8 March 2009.

Solomon Airlines said the discount fare known as "Wakabaot Solomon Fare", will virtually mean 25 per cent off the current new fares announced recently.

"Naturally, there are conditions applicable like timelines for payment after reservations and limited seats available but it was a chance with more capacity," the airline said in a statement.

"This is to give something back to the travelling public of Solomon Islands who have found travelling difficult in 2008. This new fare initiative will be applicable from 5 January throughout the time the Dash8 remains here and at the moment, travel will have to be completed by the 7th March 2009 prior to the aircraft returning to New Zealand on the 8th March or so."

The Dash8 will service the airports of Seghe; Munda; Gizo; Auki; Kirakira and Santa Cruz, whilst it is here.

"We are on track to achieve this with bookings especially to and from Gizo, Munda, and Santa Cruz showing very good signs," the airline said.

It added one of its three Twin Otters has commenced some major maintenance in which the airline secured a couple of experts in Fuselage work and they are on the ground and on track in making those required adjustments over the next four to six weeks.

The Dash8 aircraft arrives here today from Wellington.

It should proceed with a couple of proving flights tomorrow to Kirakira, Santa Cruz, and Auki prior to commencing full schedule flights from Monday 5th January.

New schedules are now available at the airline or agents offices.
