Police continue search for 35-year-old woman

SUVA, Fiji (Fijilive, Jan. 14, 2009) – The current adverse weather conditions in Fiji have claimed another two lives as the tropical depression continues to hit the group.

A three-year old boy in Naqai, Labasa was playing on piles of posts near a rising river when he lost his balance and drowned.

His mother was inside the house when the incident occurred at around 1.30pm today.

Police have again reminded the public to take extra care particularly in closely monitoring the movement of their children.

West police have also confirmed that the body of a 20-year-old Nawaka villager was found at Salovi creek.

Divisional Crime Officer Western, Superintendent Vijay Singh said they believed the deceased went swimming with three other men when he got swept away by strong currents on Monday.

His body was discovered at around 3.30pm yesterday.

Meanwhile police are still searching for the body of a 35-year-old woman of Vatukoula who is believed to have drowned when trying to escape a landslide near Nasiri River yesterday.
