StarKist has shut down production for a week

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (Radio New Zealand International, Feb. 15, 2009) – Both canneries in American Samoa, StarKist Samoa and COS Samoa Packing, have reduced working days without any reason being given for the cutbacks.

StarKist Company’s spokesperson, Mary Sestric, said the changes began last month.

She says that StarKist has also shut down production for a week.

Samoa Packing workers say they too are faced with a reduction of working days.
