Team seeks investment opportunities

PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea (PNG Post-Courier, Mar 12, 2009) - A Turkish delegation will be visiting the Papua New Guinea this weekend in search of investment opportunities and information on investment procedures.

The 17-member delegation will arrive tomorrow on a three-day visit, which will be facilitated by the Investment Promotion Authority (IPA).

The team consists of representatives from various industries in Turkey including mining, engineering, construction, real estate development and agriculture. Other industries represented include manufacturing, trading, tourism, transportation and fisheries.

The members also form TUSKON, Turkey’s equivalent to PNG Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

IPA managing director Ivan Pomaleu said yesterday that besides seeking investment opportunities, the delegation would seek information on the legislative and policy environment of investing in PNG.

Mr. Pomaleu said business people in PNG who had viable investment project proposals and were looking for foreign partners were urged to meet with the Turkish delegation.

He said the meeting would be held at the Gateway Hotel in Port Moresby on Saturday starting at 7 a.m.

Interested people can confirm their participation with Michael Enga of the IPA on telephone 3084444/3217311 or e-mail michaele@ipa.gov.pg
