Six men arrested with over $100 million worth of drug

SUVA, Fiji (Fiji Times, March 29, 2009) – Police believe they have confiscated more than $200million [US$112 million] worth of marijuana from the Navosa highlands through the joint police/military exercise, Operation Yadra Viti; an exercise that is shaping up to be Fiji's biggest drug bust yet.

Drugs analysts stationed at the operation's base in the highlands means the plants gathered by the 100-men squad from the 20-plus farms that have been raided so far are promptly verified.

Six men of Draiba and Vatubalavu villages are in police custody and are being interrogated on the suspicion of farming marijuana, said police spokesman Atunaisa Sokomuri.
