China cautions visit could impact diplomatic relations

MELBOURNE, Australia (Radio Australia, June 4, 2009) – Two members of the spiritual movement, Falun Gong, have reportedly been questioned by Tongan immigration officials after the Chinese embassy to the Pacific nation expressed extreme concern about their visit.

The two Chinese citizens travelled to Tonga last month to teach locals about the movement.

A document obtained by Radio Australia shows the Chinese embassy in Tonga wrote to the Foreign Ministry in May.

The embassy said the trip might encourage more Falun Gong followers to travel to Tonga.

This which would damage diplomatic relations between the countries, it said.
