Removes politically related agenda items

MELBOURNE, Australia (Radio Australia, June 7, 2009) – Leaders of Fiji's Methodist Church say they will make a fresh attempt to meet with the interim Prime Minister this week in a bid to convince the government to allow the annual church conference to go ahead.

The Church president told FijiLive the meeting is still two months away and besides, our members have been preparing for it for some time.

He says political issues proposed on the agenda have been removed, but there are other issues that could only be dealt with at the conference.

The permit for the conference was cancelled after the police and the military said items on the conference agenda were political in nature and contravened the existing Public Emergency Regulations.
