NFP hopes all parties to be included in leaders’ forum

SUVA, Fiji (Fijilive, June 15, 2009) – The country’s oldest political party, the National Federation Party hopes that all parties will be invited to a new forum suggested by Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.

Bainimarama has told FijiLive that a roadmap for Fiji will be launched at a political leaders’ forum in a couple of weeks.

NFP general secretary Pramod Rae said the party is hopeful of a positive outcome at this proposed meeting and wants to be part of it.

The NFP and three other major political parties, critics of the Bainimarama Government, were left out of the last leaders’ dialogue forum.

Ousted Opposition Leader Mick Beddoes said the only forward is through inclusive political dialogue.

"The nation can only be united if the leaders adapt an inclusive approach to the problem and that’s pretty fundamental and that’s the way all our previous coups and problems of the past have been resolved. It’s been resolved through dialogue and discussion and this coup is no different."

Bainimarama had told FijiLive that his "staffs are working to put up something" and that the United Nations and Commonwealth will be invited to the political forum discussion.
