Health officials say patient came from Chile

PAPEÉTE, Tahiti (Tahitipresse, July 7, 2009) - French Polynesia has confirmed its fifth case of Influenza A/ H1N1, Health officials announced Tuesday afternoon in Papeéte.

This fifth influenza A case is an "imported case" from Chile, a Health ministry press release states.

The person had flu symptoms and went to see a doctor, the press release adds.

This new influenza A case has been sent to the Tahiti Public Hospital and now has a Tamiflu treatment.

Some persons who have been in contact with this patient will also be monitored.

Since May 9, there has been 17 suspect cases in French Polynesia, but only 5 of them have been confirmed influenza A cases.

Two influenza A cases were US visitors and the two others were French Polynesian residents returning from vacation in New Zealand.
