Kitione Nasokia died in roadside bombing

SUVA, Fiji (Fiji Sun, September 2, 2009) – The Tokoduadua family of Verata Wailevu Village in Nausori is trying to come to terms over the death of family member, Kitione Nasokia in Iraq last week.

Nasokia, 49, died in a road side bombing incident while working as a security personal with the Triple Canopy Security Services.

Elder brother Semi Tokoduadua, 52, said the family was shocked over news of his brother's death.

"We are still coming to terms with it and I cannot believe that we had lost him. He called last week requesting for some tee-shirts for work purposes," Semi added.

"The incident happened when Kitione was leading a convoy of vehicles escorting a very important person (VIP) to another venue.

"He was driving the lead vehicle while the VIP vehicle was in the middle of the other two vehicles. It was a bomb made from Improvise Explosive Device and the impact of the explosion blew up the vehicle Kiti was driving.

"He will be sadly missed by the community of Verata Wailevu since he was the only Fijian who lived among Indo-Fijians."

Kitione is survived by his wife Josevini, a police officer, and his nine-year old daughter, Paulini.

His body is expected to arrive in Nadi tomorrow.
