Some 14 positions vacant

SUVA, Fiji (Fiji Times, Jan 4, 2010) - THE Ministry of Health in Fiji is expecting four expatriate doctors from India to join it early this year.

Ministry of Health permanent secretary Dr. Sala Saketa said the doctors were expected to come in August last year but couldn't because of unforeseen circumstances.

"Relevant authorities are dealing with the Fiji High Commission in India to enable the doctors to come to Fiji," she said.

She said the four doctors would fill vacant positions in the three main divisional hospitals in Suva, Lautoka and Labasa.

"We needed 14 but at this time we are expecting four to come," she said.

The doctors are expected to work as pathologists, radiologists and anesthetists.
