Samoa hopes to benefit from increased tourism

APIA, Samoa (Samoa Observer, Jan. 5, 2010) - A new flight being planned by Air Pacific is set to bring more Chinese tourists to Samoa and the Pacific.

According to a Cabinet statement, plans are in the pipeline for the Air Pacific to fly the Hong Kong -- Nadi route. Cabinet says this will be a very important step as:

The flight details have emerged following the China International Travel Mart (CITM) international exhibition held in Kunming China last year.

The CITM exhibition was one of the biggest in terms of trade and business in Asia.

It was an opportunity for retailers to strike deals with business people and customers from Asia and all over the world.

The exhibition also focused on tourism matters and media.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by China and Samoa recently which qualifies Samoa to become an Approved Destination Status for the people of China.

The idea is to increase the number of Chinese tourists to visit Samoa.

After the exhibition, the Samoa Tourism Authority Marketing Manager, Dwayne Bently attended a meeting with the Electric Art to set promotional programs for 2010.
