FIJI’S BAINIMARAMA TO ATTEND ADB MEETING Regional cooperation on agenda

SUVA, Fiji (Fijilive, April 28, 2010) - Fiji’s Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama and Reserve Bank of Fiji Governor Sada Reddy will attend the Asian Development Bank’s 43rd annual meeting in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from May 1 to 4 this year.

Some of the issues expected to be discussed at the meeting include regional and inter-regional cooperation, vulnerability issues, natural disasters, and structural reforms in view of crisis, food security and the ADB’s response to climate change in the Pacific.

Accompanying Bainimarama and Reddy will be acting permanent secretary for Finance John Prasad, permanent secretary for National Planning, Pita Wise and other RBF officials.

Also on the agenda is a governors’ seminar on Asian Integration and Global Crisis and a Board of Governors meeting. Samoa is responsible for the preparation and presentation of the Pacific Governors joint statement.
