Findings with Attorney General

SUVA, Fiji (Fijilive, June 8, 2010) - Fiji’s Commerce Commission has handed over its findings of a review of domestic air travel prices to the Office of the Attorney General.

Commission chairman Dr. Mahendra Reddy said the decision on any changes to domestic air fare pricing now depends on the Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

"The ball is now in the minister’s court to decide."

Reddy also revealed he had met with new Air Pacific chief executive officer Dave Pflieger a week ago.

"We have had discussions and we carry on from there. Although it is the AG who is fully in-charge."

The Commerce Commission was given the directive to examine whether local carrier Pacific Sun or any other operator had substantial market power in the domestic market.

The commission has also called for written submissions from Pacific Sun, Northern Airline Charter and the general public on the air fare issue.
