Son of deceased Governor of Vava‘u takes Luani title

NUKU΄ALOFA, Tonga (Matangi Tonga, June 9, 2010) – Honorable ΄Inoke Tongaleva Ngongokilitoto Luani (22) was appointed to the hereditary noble title, Luani at the Free Wesleyan Church at Malapo on May 27.

The installation ceremony followed a week after his father’s funeral on May 21 and was conducted by the Lord Chamberlain Viela Tupou who read out the Letter of Appointment from HM King George Tupou V.

Hon ΄Inoke Tongaleva Luani is the eldest son of the late Noble Luani, formerly the Governor of Vava΄u, and Luseane Luani. He is currently studying in Wellington, New Zealand.

The noble’s estates include Malapo, Nakolo in Tongatapu and Tefisi in Vava΄u.

Meanwhile, the position of the Governor of Vava΄u remains vacant following the sudden death of Noble Luani on May 12 at Neiafu, Vava΄u.

The Deputy Secretary at the Palace Office, Suka ΄Otukolo, confirmed that no one had been appointed to the Governor’s position yet.
