5.1 quake reminds city trouble not over

MELBOURNE, Australia (Radio Australia, Jan. 21, 2011) – A 5.1 magnitude aftershock struck near New Zealand's southern city of Christchurch on Thursday morning.

It was one of the largest since the September's devastating 7.1 magnitude quake.

Since the 5.1 aftershock at 6.00am (local time) there have been four other recorded aftershocks.

Science seismologist John Ristau says there is a chance of smaller aftershocks for the next 12 hours.

There were reports of slight damage.
