FIJI RAISES REGULAR GAS PRICE TO $5.33 GALLON

Prices determined on a quarterly basis

By Nasik Swami SUVA, Fiji (Fijilive, April 25, 2011) – In Fiji, consumers will now have to dig a little bit deeper into their pockets as fuel prices increase from today.

The retail price for Premix outboard fuel increases by 14 cents with the new cost of FJ$2.47 [US$1.39] per liter, unleaded fuel increases by 13 cents to FJ$2.50 [US$1.41] a liter, the price for Diesel goes up by 21 cents to FJ$2.28 [US$1.29] a liter and Kerosene will now cost FJ$1.88 [US$1.06] per liter with an increase of 20 cents.

[PIR editor’s note: Increased prices per gallon are US$5.26 for Premix, US$5.33 for unleaded, US$4.88 for Diesel, and US$4.01 for Kerosene.]

The increase in the fuel price has been labeled as one of the biggest increase so far.

Meanwhile, the next change in the fuel prices will be determined after the next three months.

This after the Attorney General and Minister for Trade, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum announced that the changes in the fuel price in the country will be determined on a quarterly basis.
