Arrivals increased more than 60 percent since Jin Air

By Geraldine Castillo HAGÅTÑA, Guam (Marianas Variety, May 3, 2011) - The Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) announced the celebration of Korea-based Jin Air International’s first year on Guam.

Jin Air is a low-cost airline that originates from South Korea. According to a GVB press release, Jin Air began daily flights from Incheon International Airport to Guam on April 20, 2010. The airline is a subsidiary of Korean Air.

The Korea Guam Marketing Committee marked the first anniversary of Jin Air with a visit to Guam from April 21 to 24, to meet the incoming GVB board of directors, explore the island, and perform hotel inspections.

Attendees included representatives from YB Tour, Mode Tour, Online Tour, Very Good Tour, Lotte JTB, Redcap Tour, Hana Tour, Hanjin Travel, Tour 2000 and Interpark.

"Since Jin Air arrived on Guam last April, our arrivals have increased more than 60 percent," said GVB acting General Manager Joann Camacho in a press release.

She expressed the intent to keep those numbers up through GVB’s partnership with Jin Air as it has continually expressed confidence in Guam’s market.
