Eco-tourism on Aguigan island, sunset trails, historic sites

SAIPAN, CNMI (Marianas Variety, July 7, 2011) – In the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), Tinian will offer visitors something different than what they see and experience on Saipan and Rota, Mayor Ramon Dela Cruz said.

In his recent discussion with Marianas Visitors Authority (MVA) consultant Lynn Knight, the mayor said he recommended the eco-tourism development on Aguigan, or Goat Island.

"I also recommended a sunset trail on Tinian — something different so they can see indigenous trees and birds," he said.

Knight also discussed about the need to open more historical sites on Tinian.

MVA, she added, will push for the inclusion of Tinian’s House of Taga on the World Heritage site list of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
