Nothing to show for $670,000 allocation

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (Radio New Zealand International, Aug. 1, 2011) – There are indications preparations for next year’s Festival of Pacific Arts in the Solomon Islands capital are behind schedule.

The Solomons government has 11 months to ensure the infrastructure for the festival is in place, but our correspondent Dorothy Wickman says no ground work’s been done on the proposed village and there are no other signs of progress.

She says there are also unconfirmed reports that the auditor general is looking into the allocation of more than US$670,000 to the organisers.
