Three days at Sunset Lodge on Savo called conducive

By Jennifer Kakai HONIARA, Solomon Islands (Solomon Star, Aug. 17, 2011) - Just like all the other Solomon Islands Government ministries who are currently preparing their budget for 2012, the Ministry of Environment and Conservation took three days out from Honiara to prepare their budget.

From Tuesday to Friday last week a team from the Ministry which includes all heads of department and the Permanent Secretary (PS) spent three days at Sunset Lodge at Savo Central Province.

Speaking to the Solomon Star PS of the ministry Rence Sore said the retreat was organized mainly for them to start and work on the ministry’s 2012 budget.

Mr. Rence said that apart from the work on the budget the retreat is also seen as one way of empowering team work in the ministry.

He said the retreat is the first of its kind carried out for staff in the ministry and had a positive impact in their team work.

One of the staff Hudson Kauhiona who was part of the delegation thanked the Mr. Sore for organizing the trip.

"I also personally want to thank him for your excellent leadership that is based on team work."

Mr. Kauhiona said the contribution from everyone was excellent with good guidance from all division heads and administration that resulted in a fruitful retreat.

Mr. Rence said with positive outcome future retreat can be organized but will depend mainly on the subject.

"Retreats are organized for subjects that needed quite environment to allow proper analysis."
