Solomons’ Forau replaces PNG’s Ravusiro

HONIARA, Solomon Islands (Solomon Star, Sept. 22, 2011) - The new Director General of the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Secretariat, Peter Forau arrived in Port Vila on Tuesday to take up his post at the MSG headquarters.

Mr. Forau, of Solomon Islands, was appointed by the Leaders of the MSG at their Special Leaders Summit that was held on 2 September in Nadi, Fiji.

Mr. Forau has extensive regional experience, having worked with the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI) as well as Deputy Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) for five (5) years.

Before that, he also served as Permanent Secretary for three Ministries in Solomon Islands, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & External Trade.

Mr. Forau holds a Masters Degree in Development Assistance from the Australian National University (ANU).

Mr. Forau replaces Mr. Rima Ravusiro of Papua New Guinea (PNG) whose contract expired on 09 July 2011.
