Rudd in talks with O’Neill over sovereign wealth fund

MELBOURNE, Australia (Radio Australia, Sept. 29, 2011) – Australian Foreign Affairs Minister Kevin Rudd travelled to Papua New Guinea on Friday for talks with the government of Prime Minister Peter O'Neill.

Mr Rudd's visit comes ahead of next month's 20th Australia-Papua New Guinea Ministerial Forum in Canberra.

On the agenda was the PNG Government's plan to establish sovereign wealth funds to manage revenue from the resources boom.

Also tipped to be discussed was Australia's development assistance program to PNG.

It was Mr Rudd's first visit to the country as foreign minister.
