Pure Pacifika to resume purchases this week

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (Radio New Zealand International, Feb. 29, 2012) – A New Zealand company that produces organic nonu juice, Pure Pacifika Limited says it expects to resume collecting the fruit in Upolu, Samoa this week.

The company is being blamed for an over-supply of nonu as it stopped purchasing the fruit from the island at the end of last year as it closed due to the holiday season.

The Director of Pure Pacifika Phillip McNicholl says it has continued to source fruit from Savaii and has not reneged on a deal to buy large quantities from Upolu but says the surplus of nonu is a result of an extraordinary season of growth.

However he admits the company has reduced the volume of nonu it is buying due to issues with its client from China, New Zealand Natural Dairy.

"I believe there’s some kind of investigation going on in their parent company which has caused some issues. I’m not sure but I think their accounts have been frozen, which has caused a problem where they haven’t been able to launch the product onto the market."

Phillip Nicholl says Pure Pacifika hopes to supply three million liters of nonu juice to China this year.
