HONIARA, Solomon Islands (Solomon Star, May 10, 2012) – Solomon Islands Police say the Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo is yet to lodge any complaints against Opposition leader Dr. Derek Sikua on allegations of criminal defamation.

The Prime Minister’s Office on Tuesday said it has formally lodged a complaint with the police against Dr. Sikua.

But the police Media Unit said yesterday this is not the case.

A spokesperson from the media unit said any complaints of such nature will have to go through the Leadership Code Commission (LCC) before it can recommend and be put forward to the police to take it up.

Dr. Sikua has accused Prime Minister Lilo of meddling in the share transfer of China United by Austree.

But Mr. Lilo’s office described the allegations as fabricated lies, and called on the Opposition leader to provide evidence of such allegations before 12 noon yesterday.
