Before coming to Palau, Gardner worked as an attorney in Manhattan, New York and was involved in litigation and insurance coverage, working on behalf of policy holders. She earned her law degree at the Emory University School of Law and also took up Bachelors of Science at Cornell University.

After her law school, she also worked with a firm in Washington D.C. Her husband, Bryan Spielman is also here in Palau as the new court counsel.
