94 Arrests Made Over Holiday Season In Vanuatu

Majority related to drinking and driving, domestic violence

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (Radio New Zealand International, Jan. 7, 2013) – Vanuatu police have reported 94 arrests over the eleven days of the festive season.

The majority of them relates to drinking and driving, obstructing police officers on duty and domestic violence.

They also reports a death on Christmas Day and one on New Year’s Day.

On Efate, a man died in hospital after the vehicle he was travelling in rolled over, ditching its occupants.

A police report from Ambae Island says a man voluntarily surrendered to the police on Christmas Day for killing a ten-year old boy.
