Immigration officials on look out for convicted scam artist

SUVA, Fiji (Fijilive, Oct. 27, 2013) – Immigration Fiji officers are on a 24-hour watch after reports that Australian conman Peter Foster is in the country.

Australian paper the Courier Mail has reported that Foster arrived in Fiji on Saturday.

He was said to have not been happy with a three-year jail sentence he received on two charges of contempt of court relating to his involvement in the scam diet spray Sensalim.

The 51-year-old said in the report that he fled Australia because serving jail time would prevent him from seeing his ailing mother, Louise who is believed to be in Fiji.

When contacted, Immigration Fiji director Nemani Vuniwaqa said they are following up on the reports.

He has instructed his staff in Nadi to be on a round-the-clock watch and review all arrival and departure log books to verify Foster’s location if he did enter.

"He is on our controversial list so he should not have entered.

If reports are true that he did arrive on a fraudulent passport, then that’s another offence.

Foster faces possible deportation if found.
