Weather Service Cancels Cyclone Gale Warning For Tonga

Strong wind warning still in effect for Ha’apai, Vava’u areas

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (Radio New Zealand International, Jan. 6, 2014) – The cyclone gale warning for Tonga has been cancelled.

The Metservice says Cyclone Ian has been moving west, away from the Kingdom.

As a result, the gale warning for the Ha'apai and Vava'u group has been cancelled but a strong wind warning is still in force.

The cyclone alert for the rest of Tonga has also been cancelled.
