HAGÅTÑA, Guam (Pacific Daily News, April 22, 2014) – Robert Underwood will serve as the University of Guam's president for two more years.

Underwood's contract was renewed at the university's board of regents meeting April 17, according to a UOG press release.

"I am honored by the board's confidence in me to continue leading this great university," Underwood said. "Each day I am inspired by the passion and commitment of our faculty and staff and by the achievements of our students and alumni throughout the region and around the world."

Underwood is UOG's 10th president and has been leading the university since 2008.

He and the board have the option to extend his contract for another year, the release stated, as part of a transition period to new leadership.

During the meeting, the board also elected several officers, including its chairman, William Leon Guerrero.

A board member since 2007, Leon Guerrero previously served as the board's vice chairman. Leon Guerrero will replace the board's current chair, W. Chris Perez, whose term ends in July.

The board also elected the following officers: Marcos Fong as vice chairman, Antoinette Sanford as treasurer and Vinni Orsini as student regent-elect.
