Russia To Send An Observer To Fiji Elections

Australia, Indonesia co-lead international group

SUVA, Fiji (Fijilive, June 30, 2014) – Russia has confirmed it will be part of the International Observer Monitoring Group for Fiji's September 17 election.

The country has agreed to send a representative to be part of observers mission and will be represented by lawyer, Dr Elena P Dubrovina, who is also a member of Russia's Election Commission.

Australia and Indonesia will co-lead the observers group which also includes an MSG rep.

Russia's decision to send a rep was confirmed during Foreign Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabola's discussion with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Moscow last week.

The discussion centred on furthering relations between the two countries including in bilateral and trade, defense, humanitarian aid and election preparation.
