Minister for Fisheries and Forests Lieutenant-Colonel Inia Seruiratu said through Infofish they could expand their exports to include giant squids as well.
"The good news is that we have joined Infofish, though it was established back in 1981 by the UN, Fiji has never joined formally," Lt-Col Seruiratu said.
"Now that we are an approved member, I was informed during my visit last week to Malaysia that they will find suitable markets for respective member countries."
He further said findings from the First Giant Squid research, has helped the local fisheries department understand better and increase their knowledge about the possible risks to marine resources and how they could be spread and prevented.
