Port Moresby’s Gordon Market To Remain Closed ‘Indefinitely’ Main market has been closed since policeman stabbed last week

PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea (The National, Nov. 20, 2014) – Port Moresby’s Gordon market will remain closed indefinitely.

The National Capital District Commission management, board and the police will decide when it will reopen.

Both police and the commission confirmed that discussions were yet to be held.

The market has been closed since last week after a policeman was stabbed and he died in hospital soon after.

That prompted police to stop all marketing activities.

As a result, the bus stop and trade stores in the area had not been operating as well.

First secretary to NCD Governor Powes Parkop, Gong Ned, said the issue was to be discussed last Friday but it did not take place.
