New projects to roll out as part of rebranding campaign

SUVA, Fiji (Fiji Times, Jan. 2, 2015) – In a bid to increase visitor arrivals, Tourism Fiji will be rolling out various new projects in 2015 as its rebranding campaign continues.

Tourism Fiji public relations manager Patricia Mallam said while Fiji ended 2014 on a positive note, there would be more marketing strategies in place to attract more visitors.

"We've got a lot of new things that we'll be rolling out to go in line with our rebranding campaign which is targeted at selected markets right across the globe," she said.

"At the end of the day all we're trying to do is increase visitor arrivals because this is a very competitive market.

"We are up against countries like Hawaii, Malaysia and India and they've got much larger budgets than we have been allocated and in order to make the most of it we've got to try to think a little bit differently.

"It's looking already positive for Fiji because we have already had good rankings by independent surveyors and that's going to help us leverage against other markets around the world that have similar products."

According to the Fiji Bureau of Statistics, Fiji's total visitor arrivals in November, 2014, totalled 55,493 — an increase of 8 per cent compared with the same period last year.

Figures from the bureau showed a total of 1221 New Zealanders arrived in November last year while 970 Chinese citizens also visited Fiji.

Rounding up the list were Pacific Islanders with 771, US 625 and Asia 405 while a total of 333 Australians visited the country in the same month.
