2015 edition includes mobile phone friendly QR codes

APIA, Samoa (Talamua, Feb. 17, 2015) – Mobile phone users in Samoa and anywhere around the world can now connect directly to Samoan businesses listed on the Samoa Business Directly through the Quick Response Code (QRC).

The QRC is the latest feature of the Samoa combined Business Directory 2015 published annually by Apia based multi-media company Talamua Media & Publications.

The directory was launched in Apia today by the President of the Samoa Manufacturers and Exporters Association (SAME), Tagaloa Eddie Wilson and the printed version will be on display in next month’s Buy Samoa Made Tradeshow in Liverpool, Sydney, Australia 23, 24 & 25 March 2015.

"All in all – SAME’s Export Drive initiatives –e.g. in New Zealand and Australia – it relies significantly on the Media both locally and in the Export Markets. Publicity & Public Awareness is Everything–in succeeding in penetrating new markets," he told the media and guests at the midday launch at the Talamua main offices, Nia Mall, Fugalei.

"The Talamua -2015 Edition of the combined Samoa & American Samoa Business Directory is certainly a significant market information provider and link between the markets of Samoa and American Samoa.

"Market information is key information source for decision makers in the Private Sector-in making decisions on Import Substitution; Export Development or investment.

"We congratulate Apulu and Angie- for their success and perseverance in establishing and maintaining a very high quality Business Directory for the two Samoa’s – now that this information link has been developed, it remains for the two Samoa’s to reach agreement and establish a Free Trade Agreement that will open up doors for the development of the 2 countries," he stated.

"We challenge Talamua, to look at similar links for the Samoa-New Zealand-Australian Markets- which, like American Samoa- are the most important markets for Samoa and SAME to focus its export efforts on – as our success in the Export Markets will guarantee Growth for our Businesses and Prosperity for our People and Our Country," Tagaloa concluded.

Talamua Media founder, Apulu Lance Polu said for the nine years the Samoa Business Directly has been published, they have strived for it to be more user friendly and easy for users to access information using modern and available technology.

"QRC has been around for some time but this I believe will be the first major publication in Samoa now using it for easy access of business information."

His eldest son, Lancelot Benedict who is the IT and Web designer for the family owned company demonstrated live how the code works and its everyday applications "as mobile devices such as mobile phones now play a major part in our daily lives."

Blessed by Father Fereti, Chaplin of the Immaculate of Mary Catholic Cathedral at Mulivai, "we see though the beautiful things we humans create, the beauty of the creators mind and that of God himself," he told the guests.

The high quality glossy and full colour printed version is available at the Talamua Media Office, Level 2, Nia Mall, Fugalei and can be accessed on its dedicated website

The 2015 edition also contains contacts for the overseas missions in Apia "as there’s a lot of interaction with local businesses and the Samoan public," according to Apulu.
