Eligible voters for election to be identified

PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea (The National, Feb. 18, 2015) – Work on the electoral rolls data entry in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville began on Monday.

The work is to compile names of all eligible voters collected in the enrolment exercise throughout the region last year.

Regional returning officer John Itanu said the number of eligible voters would depend on the accuracy of the names entered by operators in the enrolment forms.

The exercise will take two weeks before a public scrutiny period will be held to identify eligible voters missing on the roll.

During the public scrutiny period, those eligible voters who do not have their names on the preliminary rolls can still fill in their claim for enrolment forms.

Acting ABG Electoral Commissioner George Manu said he was happy with progress of the data entry exercise.

He said 50 per cent of the work had been completed.
