Workshop to help create guidelines for moving villages

SUVA, Fiji (Fiji Times, Feb. 19, 2015) – Resource owners and representatives of the 14 provinces in the country are attending a workshop to discuss the guidelines on the relocation of villages affected by climate change.

Foreign Affairs Ministry's acting Permanent Secretary Esala Nayasi said the guideline should be finalised this year.

Mr Nayasi said he could not give a definite figure on how much government had used or would use on the relocation of villages situated along the coastal areas in the country.

The workshop is being held at Holiday Inn in Suva.

Climate change issues are being handled by the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
