PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea (PNG Post-Courier, April 1, 2015) – Acting Bougainville Electoral Commissioner George Manu is happy with the candidates’ nomination for this year’s ABG General Elections.

Mr Manu made this observation following trips to parts of South and Central Bougainville to witness the nominations taking place in those areas.

"I am happy to announce that nomination is progressing well in Bougainville without any problems encountered," Mr Manu said.

"Since Monday, I have not received reports of problems and I want to thank the candidates, their supporters and others for their cooperation.

Mr Manu and his adviser from the PNG Electoral Commission, Joab Voivoi, started off their visitation program at Torokina district on Monday.

"On Monday morning we witnessed the first nomination at Torokina before proceeding to Bana, Siwai and Buin districts.

"I am happy to say that nominations in these centres and others in North Bougainville are progressing well," Mr Manu said.

Meanwhile, Mr Manu reminded the intending candidates who have yet to nominate to do so before 4pm today.

"All nominations will end at 4pm (today) so those who have yet to nominate should do so before this time.

"My returning officers will not accept any nominations after 4:00 pm," he said.
