Final stages of Cook Islands Solar Project

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (Radio New Zealand International, May 11, 2015) – The New Zealand foreign minister, Murray McCully, and a parliamentary delegation will travel to the Cook Islands this week to meet Prime Minister Henry Puna and mark the final stages of the 15 million US dollar Cook Islands Solar Project.

The minister will be accompanied by opposition MPs Winston Peters and David Shearer as well as the Pacific Economic Ambassador Shane Jones.

Mr Mc Cully says the delegation will also travel to Penrhyn and Manihiki to formally open New Zealand funded renewable energy projects, hold talks with local leaders and take part in the annual Joint Ministerial Forum.

He says they will discuss arrangements for the 50th anniversary of the Cook Islands self-governance, regional issues and development assistance.
