APIA, Samoa (Samoa Observer, July 27, 2015) – Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi has openly invited the Airlines P.N.G. Limited to land their planes at Faleolo Airport connecting Samoa to Los Angeles and Hong Kong.

Tuilaepa made the invitation during the Bank South Pacific launch on Thursday night where the Director of Airlines P.N.G. who is also the B.S.P. Chairman Sir Kostas Constantinou was present.

Having learnt that Sir Constantinou was the Director of Airlines P.N.G. Tuilaepa made the request. "I always note that you are a kind of gentleman that when you promise something, you will never fail," said Tuilaepa.

"I want you to promise to me that you will fly your airline within the next 12 months into Samoa and then connect us to Los Angeles to Hong Kong, Papua New Guinea and Apia. "We really need that plane to fill up your hotel and also our hotels." Tuilaepa added "I do not doubt that you are a man of energy and I look forward to P.N.G.’s first flight into Apia within the next 12 months." Airline P.N.G. provides flights between Australia and P.N.G. as well as within P.N.G. and its remote islands.

Meanwhile, a review on the joint venture between Polynesian and Virgin Blue Group is still in the process.

Tuilaepa dryly noted that by September, the review will be completed and there will be a decision taken on whether the marriage between the government and Virgin will continue or whether there will be a divorce.
