KOROR, Palau (Island Times, Jan. 29, 2016) – Three more tourist boats were burned in another suspected arson incident.

According to sources, three boats moored at M-Dock near Dr. Victor Yano’s were burned early Tuesday morning, January 26, 2016.

The incident came after three boats registered to local businessman Franz Misech were burned at the Ngermid Dock last January 11, 2016. Despite the offer of a $2,500 reward, no arrest has been made in connection with the incident.

According to the same sources, one of the boats is owned by John Sugiyama, a former board member of the Palau Public Utilities Corporation (PPUC). The other two are reportedly registered to Blue Palau Tour.

There is still no word if the police have made arrests or have identified possible suspects in connection with the incident. The incident is under police investigation.

There have been insinuations that the two boat burning incidents are connected to the public anger on the proliferation of "front businesses".
