Australia defeats 21-15 in Final

By Avinesh Gopal

SUVA, Fiji (Fiji Times, March 7, 2016) – The Vodafone Fiji side has successfully defended the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series USA Sevens title after defeating Australia 21-15 in the Cup final.

Australia led the bit rattled Fijian side 15-0 at half-time after three unconverted tries.

But after a talk by coach Ben Ryan at the break, the Fiji side came back firing and Kitione Taliga scored under the posts.

It was Taliga again who brought the Fiji fans on their feet at their work places, pubs and other places as he went under the posts for his second try.

With the scores at 15-14 in Australia's favour, the Australians tried to go for the winning try but the Fijian defence kept them at bay.

Savenaca Rawaca's converted try a few minutes before full time ensured Fiji a 21-14 win, giving some happiness to people who are recovering from the devastation caused by Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston two weeks ago.
