Ministry of Health notes risks of visiting, advises precautions

SUVA, Fiji (Fijilive, March 7, 2016) – There is no travel restriction to Koro Island- one of the severely affected islands by severe tropical cyclone Winston.

However the Ministry of Health and Medical Services is advising people not put their health at risk and take precautionary measures during their visit to affected areas as there is massive damage on the island.

The Ministry will continue to work closely with NDMO in close monitoring of the situation on the ground.

In the aftermath of TC Winston, there has been widespread destruction of homes, toilet facilities and water supply.

This situation makes communities’ vulnerable to communicable diseases such as typhoid, fever and diarrhoeal diseases.
