Fiji offers assistance under Volunteer Scheme

SUVA, Fiji (Fijilive, April 29, 2016) – The Government of Tokelau has donated FJD144,360 [US$70,000] to Fiji for relief and rehabilitation efforts in areas affected by TC Winston.

The donation was made by the Ulu o Tokelau, Aliki Faipule Afega Gaualofa to Foreign Affairs Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabola in Suva today.

Minister Kubuabola thanked Tokelau’s head of government for the kind gesture to help victims of Tropical Cyclone Winston.

He highlighted the rehabilitation work that Government is currently carrying out with local and foreign agencies.

He also offered assistance to Tokelau under the Fiji Volunteer Scheme (FVS), particularly in the education sector and promised to look into visa issues for Tokelau students in Fiji.
