Palau Unveils 3 UAE Funded Renewable Energy Projects

Solar systems, water treatment facility unveiled

KOROR, Palau (Island Times, May 17, 2016) – On May 13, 2016, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Republic of Palau marked the completion of the first three (3) renewable energy projects in Palau, the water treatment facility and solar energy panels system with low load diesel generators in Angaur, solar energy panel systems, also with low load diesel generators in Peleliu and homeowners solar panel projects at the National Development Bank.

In a symbolic ceremony, President Tommy E. Remengesau Jr. and His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed , also Minister of Foreign Affairs of UAE, cut the ribbon at the Palau Pacific Resort to inaugurate the projects.

"We play a key role in the world’s economy as a major supplier of oil and other energy products. Therefore, the UAE also wishes to do its part to find solutions to cutting emissions and developing constructive approaches to the impacts of climate change," stated His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed in a release statement to the press.

The projects in both Angaur and Peleliu States were managed by MASDAR, a company hired by UAE to implement and oversee its projects. MASCAR hired the construction company to construct the facilities in the States of Peleliu and Angaur and oversaw their implementation.

Projects are completed with only minor tune ups and a ribbon cutting and turn over will be on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 in both Peleliu and Angaur.
