APIA, Samoa (Talamua, Sept. 14, 2016) – The Pathologist report presented before the Coroner, Judge Vaepule Vaemoa Va’ai today, has confirmed that the cause of death of the late Ipiniu Ioane, also known as Janine Tuivaiki was by hanging.

The report stated when, where and how 19 year old Janine died on the early morning of 17 June 2016, at the Catholic Hall at Taufusi.

The report says the bruises on the deceased’s’ body were the result of an assault by a male associate on the early hours before Janine took his own life.

The release of the pathologists report also closes the case on the death.

Janine’s death became a global issue when a local newspaper published a photo of her dead body hanging from where he died, and an outpour of anger on social media followed the publication of the photo.
